An each-way bet consists of two separate bets:
A win bet on the selection to win.
A place bet on the selection to finish in one of the qualifying places.
For settlement purposes, the number of runners is the number of horses that officially come under starter’s orders.
Each-way accumulators and parlays
Settle each-way accumulators or parlays win-to-win and place-to-place. This means the win selections are combined separately from the place selections.
If a race is reduced to fewer than five starters:
Treat the each-way bet as win only because no places are available.
Apply the normal place odds to every other race in an accumulator or parlay, according to the number of runners in that race.
Win and place stakes
Place a win stake that is at least equal to the place stake. Alphibet will not accept a place stake unless at least the same amount is placed on the selection to win.
If the place stake exceeds the win stake, Alphibet will void the excess amount whether the selection wins or loses.
Extra places and enhanced terms
Check the race details before placing your bet. Alphibet may occasionally offer Extra Place Races or enhanced place terms, which will be clearly displayed on the website.
Use the Each Way Calculator to check your potential returns.
Standard place terms
The place fraction determines the odds used to settle the place part of the bet:
1/5 odds means the place part is settled at one-fifth of the win odds.
1/4 odds means the place part is settled at one-quarter of the win odds.
Runners | Race type | Place terms |
2 to 4 | All races | Win only |
5 to 7 | All races | 1/5 odds, 1st and 2nd |
8 to 11 | All races | 1/5 odds, 1st, 2nd and 3rd |
12 or more | Non-handicaps | 1/4 odds, 1st, 2nd and 3rd |
12 to 15 | Handicaps | 1/4 odds, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th |
16 or more | Handicaps | 1/4 odds, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th |
