Use this glossary to find definitions of common betting terms. Some terminology varies by location. Where applicable, the relevant region is identified as:

B
Bet Builder — ROW
A Bet Builder combines selections from different markets within the same match into one bet.
As you add selections, the combined odds and potential return will update.

Bet Calculator
A tool that allows you to calculate the potential return or check the settlement of a bet.
Bet ID
A unique reference number assigned to a bet placed on your account.
Bet Slip
The section where your selected outcomes appear before you place a bet. You can use the bet slip to enter your stake, review your selections and confirm your bet.
Board Price
The odds displayed for a horse on a racecard before the race starts.
Selecting a Board Price means accepting the available odds when you place the bet.
BOG
BOG means Best Odds Guaranteed.
If you place an eligible horse racing bet at an Early Price or Board Price and the Starting Price is higher, your bet will be settled using the higher eligible price.
Best Odds Guaranteed is subject to eligibility requirements, maximum benefit limits and the applicable promotion terms.

Canadian
Also known as a Super Yankee, a Canadian consists of 26 bets across five selections:
10 Doubles
10 Trebles
5 four-folds
1 five-fold Accumulator or Parlay
At least two successful selections are required for a return.
Cash Out
Cash Out allows you to settle all or part of an eligible bet before the market would normally be settled. Depending on the current Cash Out value, this may allow you to secure a profit or reduce a potential loss.

Combination Forecast
A Combination Forecast involves selecting three or more participants to finish first and second in any order.
A Combination Forecast containing three selections consists of six individual bets.
Correct Score
A bet on the exact score of an event at the end of the period specified in the market.
For Soccer/Football, this will normally mean the score at the end of regulation time unless the market states otherwise.

D
Dead Heat
A dead heat occurs when two or more participants tie for a finishing position.
When dead-heat rules apply, the relevant part of your stake is normally divided by the number of participants tied and settled at the accepted odds.
For example, if three participants, including your selection, tie for first place, one-third of the applicable stake will be settled as a winner.
For placed bets, the calculation may also depend on the number of paying places remaining and the number of participants involved in the dead heat.
The applicable sport and market rules will determine the final settlement.
Double
One bet containing two selections from different events. Both selections must win for the Double to return as a winning bet.
Double Chance
A bet covering two of the three possible outcomes in a market.
For example, in a Soccer/Football match, you may be able to select:
Home win or draw
Away win or draw
Home win or away win
The bet wins if either selected outcome occurs.
Double Result
A horse racing concession under which an eligible selection may be paid as a winner if it is first past the post or is subsequently awarded the race following a stewards’ enquiry or objection announced before the result is confirmed.
Eligibility and settlement are subject to the applicable Horse Racing Rules and promotion terms.

Each Way (EW)
An Each Way bet consists of two bets of equal value:
One bet on the selection to win.
One bet on the selection to place.
The total stake is therefore twice the entered Each Way stake. For example, a 5-unit Each Way bet has a total stake of 10 units.
The number of places and the fraction of the win odds paid on the place part depend on the applicable place terms.
Early Price (EP)
Horse racing odds offered before the Board Price or Starting Price becomes available.
Availability and the time at which Early Prices are replaced may vary by race.
Evens
Odds of 1/1 in fractional format or 2.00 in decimal format.
At Evens, the potential profit is equal to the stake.

Favourite
The selection considered most likely to win based on the available market odds. The Favourite will normally have the shortest odds in the market.
First Goalscorer
A bet on the player who will score the first goal in a Soccer/Football match.
Settlement is subject to the applicable market and Soccer/Football Rules.
First Tryscorer
A bet on the player who will score the first try in a rugby match.
Fold or Accumulator — ROW
When preceded by a number, a Fold describes the number of selections included in an Accumulator.
For example, an eight-fold Accumulator contains eight selections. All selections must win for the bet to return as a winning Accumulator.
If a selection is void, the bet will normally be recalculated without that selection. For example, a six-fold may become a five-fold. Sport-specific settlement rules may apply.
Forecast
A horse or greyhound racing bet that requires you to predict which participants will finish first and second in the correct order.
Forecast returns are normally calculated using the official forecast dividend declared after the event.

Half-Time Result
A bet on the result at the end of the first half, including any applicable added time.
Half-Time/Full-Time
A bet combining:
The result at half-time.
The result at the end of regulation time.
Both predictions must be correct for the bet to win.
Handicap
A market in which a participant is given a notional advantage or disadvantage to create adjusted betting outcomes.
The handicap may be expressed in goals, points, games, sets or another measurement. It may also be called a line or point spread.
Heinz
A Heinz consists of 57 bets across six selections:
5 Doubles
20 Trebles
15 four-folds
6 five-folds
1 six-fold Accumulator or Parlay
At least two successful selections are required for a return.

In Running (IR)
A term used to describe an event or market that is currently in progress.
Also known as Live Betting or In-Play Betting.
In-Running Betting
Betting on an event after it has started.
Available markets and odds may change or be suspended throughout the event to reflect what is happening in real time.

Lucky 15
A Lucky 15 consists of 15 bets across four selections:
4 Singles
6 Doubles
4 Trebles
1 four-fold
Lucky 31
A Lucky 31 consists of 31 bets across five selections:
5 Singles
10 Doubles

1 five-fold
Lucky 63
A Lucky 63 consists of 63 bets across six selections:

20 Trebles

Match Spread Betting
A form of handicap betting in which a points or goals advantage or disadvantage is applied to a participant’s final score.
For example, a team may be offered with a line of +5 or −5.
Moneyline Betting
A bet on which participant will win an event.
Any applicable draw or tie conditions will be shown in the market.
Multiple Bet
A bet combining two or more selections.The available terminology depends on your location:
In ROCA, a Multiple Bet may be displayed as a Parlay.
In ROW, available Multiple Bets include Doubles, Trebles and Accumulators.
Unless the applicable settlement rules state otherwise, every selection must win for a standard Multiple Bet to return as a winning bet.

Odds
The price offered for a selection. Odds indicate both the potential return and the market’s implied assessment of how likely an outcome is to occur.
You can view or change your preferred odds format by going to My Account → Settings.
How odds are calculated
Potential returns are calculated using your accepted odds and stake.
For decimal odds:
Potential return = stake × decimal odds
For example, a 10-unit stake at decimal odds of 5.50 has a potential return of 55 units, including the original stake.
An Each Way bet contains separate win and place parts. The place return is calculated using the advertised fraction of the win odds.
Odds-On
Odds indicating that the potential profit is lower than the stake.
Examples include:
Fractional odds below Evens, such as 1/2 or 4/5.
Decimal odds below 2.00.
Negative American odds, such as −200 or −125.
Open Bets
Bets that have not yet been settled.
An Open Bet may relate to an event that has not started, an event in progress or a market whose official result is not yet known.
Over/Under
A bet predicting whether a total will be over or under the line displayed for the market.
The total may relate to goals, points, games, sets or another event statistic.

P
Palpable or Obvious Error
A clear error affecting a bet, such as incorrect odds, an incorrect market description or accidentally reversed prices.
An affected bet may be void, corrected or resettled in accordance with the Betting Terms and Conditions.

Parlay — ROCA
A Multiple Bet combining two or more selections from different events.
Unless the applicable settlement rules state otherwise, all selections must win for the Parlay to return as a winning bet.
Patent
A Patent consists of seven bets across three selections:
3 Singles
3 Doubles
1 Treble
One successful selection may be enough to generate a return.
Period Betting
An Ice Hockey market in which you predict the result or another outcome for a specific period of the match.
Permutations
A way of placing multiple combinations from a group of selections.
For example, placing every possible Double from four selections creates six individual bets.
Place Terms
The conditions used to calculate the place part of an Each Way or place bet.
Place terms specify:
The number of finishing positions paid.
The fraction of the win odds used to calculate the place return.
The applicable terms will be displayed when the bet is placed.
Placed
A selection is placed when it finishes in one of the qualifying positions specified by the market’s place terms.
The number of qualifying positions depends on the event, number of participants and applicable market conditions.
Price
Another term for betting odds.
Puck Line
An Ice Hockey handicap market in which a goals advantage or disadvantage is applied to a team.

R
Related Bet
A related bet occurs when the outcome of one selection leads to or directly influences the outcome of another selection in the same Parlay, Accumulator or other Multiple Bet.
Unless special combined odds are offered, selections involving related outcomes cannot normally be combined.
If a related Double is accepted in error, the stake may be divided equally and settled as separate Singles.
If a larger Multiple Bet containing related selections is accepted in error, the stake may be divided equally into smaller Multiple Bets containing selections that are not related.
Settlement is subject to confirmation under the applicable Betting Terms and Conditions.
Returns
The total amount paid back from a successful bet, including both the winnings and the returned stake.
Reversed Forecast
Two Forecast bets covering two selections to finish first and second in either order.
Rule 4
A Rule 4 deduction may apply to eligible horse racing bets when a horse is withdrawn and there is not enough time to create a new market.
The deduction reflects the effect of the non-runner on the odds of the remaining horses. It may be applied to the winnings from eligible win and place bets.

Same Game Parlay — ROCA
A Same Game Parlay combines selections from different markets within the same game into one bet.
As you add selections, the combined odds and potential return will update.

Scorecast
A Soccer/Football bet combining:
A selected player to score the first goal.
The correct score at the end of regulation time.
Both outcomes must occur for the Scorecast to win. Settlement is subject to the applicable market and Soccer/Football Rules.
Set Betting
A Tennis or Darts bet in which you predict the number of sets won by each participant or the final set score.
Single
One bet on one selection.
Starting Price (SP)
The final official price returned for a horse or greyhound.
If you do not select an available fixed price when placing the bet, the bet may be settled at the Starting Price.
Super Heinz
A Super Heinz consists of 120 bets across seven selections:
21 Doubles
35 Trebles
35 four-folds
21 five-folds
7 six-folds
1 seven-fold Accumulator or Parlay
At least two successful selections are required for a return.
Super Yankee
Also known as a Canadian, a Super Yankee consists of 26 bets across five selections:
10 Doubles
10 Trebles
5 four-folds
1 five-fold Accumulator or Parlay
At least two successful selections are required for a return.

Target Score — Basketball
A format in which the game clock is turned off during the final period and a target score is set. The first team to reach the target wins the game.
The point at which timed play ends and the method used to calculate the target depend on the competition’s rules.
Three-Way Handicap
A handicap market with three possible outcomes:
One participant wins after the handicap is applied.
The adjusted result is a draw.
The other participant wins after the handicap is applied.
Three-Ball Betting
A Golf market in which three players are grouped together and the bet is placed on which player will record the lowest score over the specified round or period.
Dead-heat rules may apply.
Top Batsman/Top Bowler
A Cricket market in which you predict:
The highest-scoring batter for a specified team or event.
The leading wicket-taker for a specified team or event.
Unless otherwise stated, settlement may be based on the first innings only.
Treble
One bet containing three selections from different events. All three selections must win for the Treble to return as a winning bet.
Tricast
A bet requiring you to predict which participants will finish first, second and third.
A Straight Tricast requires the selections to finish in the exact order chosen.
A Combination Tricast allows the selections to finish in any order but consists of multiple individual bets. For example, a four-selection Combination Tricast consists of 24 bets.
Trixie
A Trixie consists of four bets across three selections:
3 Doubles
1 Treble
At least two successful selections are required for a return.
Two-Ball Betting
A Golf market in which two players are matched against each other and the bet is placed on which player will record the lower score over the specified round or period.
A tie selection may also be available. Dead-heat rules may apply.
